Chronic Chronicles: Awesome Talk & News #57

Each moment in our lives helps to create the next one, so we are always building up to better and better things. When we try to be our very best, we are guaranteeing that the next moment will be even better, and so on. Being Chronically Awesome does not ignore what is going on in us and around us. Rather, we choose to find the gifts that life brings us even in this path that we did not choose. We want to know what your awesomeness is. We want to see how you spread the gifts that you have found, totally by accident because you were thrown down this path of illness. Finding that gift, and using it to be even a little less chronic, well that makes you a whole lot of awesome.

When communities engage, and work together several things happen: All that engage feel better about themselves, those that witness the engagement feel great about the community and want to be a part of something remarkable, the community has a stronger voice of advocacy to those who have the power to make change. What causes a lack of engagement? Is it a fear of not having enough to contribute? Is it because they feel that what they will contribute will not be "good enough"? Is it apathy? Let's talk about it and see what we can do to encourage engagement in our community.

A continuation of our Cabin Fever series. It's time to organize a party with some of your favorite people. No need to have the fever alone. Get some friends together for a board game party or maybe a martini party? Too bad it can't be a POOL PARTY.

Chronic Chronicles: Awesome Talk & News #49

Recently, in a "production meeting" (oh aren't we fancy) after our anniversary show, we put together a list of topics that we wanted to cover in the coming year. One of those topics was the unfortunate but very possible reality that we would lose someone in our Chronically Awesome Community, and that we should talk about the very real but possibly confusing aspects of grieving a friend that we knew only online. We scheduled this show for two months into the future. How could we know that in exactly a week from that conversation we would lose a dear friend? Someone that Donna knew only online but that I (Jules) had known in person. We decided that we would reschedule this show about grief to this week. This would give us an opportunity to provide some comfort and insight to our listeners at a time when it was needed instead of a more "random" time. This will not be a show about one person, but a show about loss in our chronically awesome community and how to cope, what to do if you are not coping well, and about grief in general.

And our gums and teeth? If you have gastric issues, frequent vomiting can harm your teeth, and your immune system issues can cause major gum damage. We will talk about all of these issues.
